To make the right trading decisions, it is essential to know the fundamental market situation and figure out the reasons markets trade the way they do. As a Junior Energy Analyst you will sit side-by-side with a seasoned trader, who will turn your natural talents into well-defined skills for the energy market. You will learn what factors drive the energy market, and how to assess them to identify the best trading opportunities. Do you love working with large datasets and models? Great. Because we expect you to work with the team to optimize our trading models and strategies.

Your goal? Using your excellent analytical skills to outperform this competitive market and increase the efficiency of the energy markets.

Your challenge? To pinpoint the fundamental aspects that move the energy markets. You will be challenged to deliver to your best performance.

When starting as a Junior Energy Analyst Day Ahead Markets, first you will learn the main drivers of the energy markets in our in-house training program. Do you already have some experience? Then, you will directly join the Day Ahead trading team. You will be responsible for building and further optimizing the trading models, you will perform data checks and you will optimize trading strategies in close cooperation with the traders on the desk, but also with our Data Engineers and Data Scientists.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop a Trader's Mindset: Work together with traders regularly on trading shifts to gain firsthand knowledge of energy market fundamentals and understand their specific needs.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market data, identifying trends and opportunities that give the team a competitive edge.
  • Collaboration and Team work: Be part of a multidisciplinary team that fosters learning, innovation, and growth in a collaborative environment.
  • Tool Development: Design, build, and deploy high-performance analytical tools that process data. Your team is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving these tools and ensuring that the data is correct from source to tool.
  • Data Visualization: Create, manage and maintain complex dashboards using various technologies. You will learn to choose the right solution for different use cases and ensure the dashboards are tailored to the traders' needs.
  • Automation: Streamlining and automating workflows where possible to ensure the smooth execution of tasks during the trading shift, allowing traders to focus fully on the market without distractions.
  • Adaptability & Learning: Keep pace with both technological advancements and shifting energy market demands.

What we ask

  • An analytical or quantitative degree at MSc level
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and learn new techniques
  • Affinity for meteorology
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
  • A maximum of three years of work experience
  • An interest in trading or financial markets
  • Fluency in English

Location: for this vacancy we need you to live in The Netherlands. To enhance collaboration in a dynamic trading environment you will partly be working at the trading desk, close to our traders. Therefore, we need you to work in the office.
